Unfortunately, as feared, the forecast for today’s weather is not good: strong winds and heavy rain, both peaking for the duration of session. As a result, for reasons of safety and sanity, there will be no actual throwing today.
However, there is alternative entertainment…
The Scout Hall is supposed to be free – it’s part of the venue reservation – so I’ll be making use of it to practice some rope dart, and I’ll be bringing along a bunch of bullwhips, so if you’re interesting in having a play with either of those, feel free to turn up.
Usual costs apply.
Dates for the rest of the year are now listed on the Upcoming Dates page.
Our next session will be 28th July, 1-3pm, then the next session will be 1st September – there’s no session in August, due to availability.
We finally have dates for Spring 2019 – see the Upcoming Dates page.
Apologies for the lack of sessions in April, and in June – I’m tied up a lot travelling for work and personal reasons, and the venue is booked solid on the weekends when I’m around.
August is also going to be a non-starter, so I’ll try to get September dates arranged soon.
Unfortunately, I’ve got to cancel the throwing session for 31 March 2019, as I am unexpectedly out of the country on that day.
Apologies for this. I’ll be arranging the dates for April/May/June soon.
It’s a new year, and there are new throwing dates available – see the Upcoming Dates page for details. Hope to see you there.
Dates are now available for October to December – see the Upcoming Dates page.
Apologies for the delay in getting new dates for Spring – I’ve been travelling – but new sessions are now booked. See Upcoming Dates for details. Note that we’ve moved back to Sundays again, after a brief trial of Saturdays during the start of the year.
The dates for the first three months of 2018 are now available, on the Upcoming Dates page. Sessions will still be 1-3pm, but we’ve switched to throwing on Saturday instead of Sunday, as there were some comments about people being better able to make it on Saturdays.
We now have a Twitter account, @skattaEdin. Please do follow, if you’re a Twitter user.
As of the start of 2017, the cost of throwing sessions is rising from £5 per session to £10. This is as a result of the Scouts having to increase their own hourly rental rate thanks to a change in their insurance provider.
I’ve been hoping to increase attendees rather than costs, but my overheads per session have increased by 600% – this will offset some of that.
